Feeling like you need to constantly go to the bathroom? Let’s check for bladder irritants.

Bladder irritants are anything you consume that leave the lining of the bladder unhappy.

Common irritants are coffee, carbonation, acidic foods, chocolate, processed sugar, spice, tobacco, citrus, and alcohol.

Not every single thing I have listed here is a bladder irritant for everyone, but if you’re struggling with increased frequency, cutting back on some of these can be a good starting place.

Preaching to myself here because my daily fluid consumption often looks like 4 shots of espresso and a sparkling water 🫢

Maybe try a ‘water sandwich’ and if you can’t give up your evening glass of wine, have some water right before and right after to soften the blow to the bladder!

Let’s chat breathing! 😮‍💨 Breathing is one of the most foundational parts of learning to control your pelvic floor.

Your diaphragm and your pelvic floor work together in a pistoning action. Whatever your diaphragm does, your pelvic floor does. 🤝

Most of us feel like we should suck up and inhale to contract and exhale to relax, but this is really opposite.

Inhale=relax/lengthen pelvic floor
Exhale=contract/lift pelvic floor

Give it a try and see how it feels today, and come back later this week for a little demo (pray for me as I learn to not be the most awkward person on camera 😬)

- Adductor Thread the Needle 10x each side
- Staggered Knee Rock Backs 10x each side
- Puppy Pose 1 min
- Diaphragmatic Breathing 10 breaths
- Happy Baby 1 min

My wonderful hubby is the greatest partner, and is down for me to talk all things bowel habits at the dinner table 🤭.
